Meat Diet Lowers Risk Kidney Function

Diets high in red and processed meat, saturated fats and sweets lowers risk of kidney function. According to a new study from Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, USA revealed.

From a study published in the American Journal of Kidney Diseases, the high consumption of foods mentioned above lower risk of kidney function. This study examined the effects of three different dietary patterns That is the type of Western, Prudent and the DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stopping Hypertension).

Western diet emphasizes red meat and processed foods, saturated fats and sweets. Prudent diet of vegetables, fruits, grains, poultry and fish. DASH diet emphasizes fruits, vegetables and low fat dairy foods and low in saturated fat and total cholesterol. They studied renal function in 3121 women, who are on a diet of more than 11 years.

According to lead researcher, Dr. Julie LIn, renal function was assessed using two different methods: estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), which measures the ability of the kidneys and the blood washed Microalbuminuria, ie, measuring the urinary protein as a marker of vascular disease and inflammation.

Overall, the women in this study had well-functioning kidneys. But the researchers found that those with the Western diet was associated with increased rates of albuminuria and increased risk of decreased renal blood washing. Being the other two types of diets do not show these symptoms.

What's interesting about this study is albuminuria, an early sign of vascular disease, may be influenced by diet. Lin said the kidney is the organ that is associated with vascular. "So we were not surprised to see the Western diet-related risk of cardiovascular disease danpenurunan kidney function," said the doctor in the renal division at Brigham and Women's Hospital this. I
